n September, on weekends, take advantage of the Hop ON - Hop OFF E-van to Mangart Saddle.
Mangart Saddle (2055 m) offers breathtaking views of the Fusine Lakes and surrounding peaks.You’ll reach it via the highest mountain road in Slovenia, built in 1938 by Italian soldiers. With its winding path above steep slopes and tunnels carved into the rock, the road itself is a unique attraction. At the Mangart Alpine Pasture (1295 m), shepherds have been making cheese for five centuries, following the ancient traditions of their forefathers.
The E-van leads to the parking lot in front of the last tunnel. From there it is a 30-40 minute walk past the hut to the Mangart saddle. We recommend hiking shoes.
