Soča trout once again brings people together and educates

This now traditional series of events, named after the mysterious marble trout, is intended for the local population of the Soča Valley as well as visitors from near and far who care about the area’s aquatic wealth, the promotion of sustainable interaction with nature, and local cuisine. At the same time, the festival pays tribute to the millennia-old tradition of fishing and fish farming, as it was precisely local knowledge that saved Europe’s largest trout from certain extinction.
The Soča Trout Festival is symbolically positioned within a one-month period between World Water Day and Earth Day,
from 22 March to 22 April.
This year as well, the festival programme is jointly organised by the Municipality of Tolmin, the Tolmin Fishing Association, and the Soča Valley Tourism Board. A packed schedule (comming soon) of social events, educational workshops, expert panels and discussions, exhibitions, guided tours, and film screenings announces a local celebration that also marks the opening of the new tourist season.
The 2026 program is in preparation.
