Spend a day in the company of animals and discover the tradition of cheesemaking and dairy farming in the Soča Valley and Planika Dairy Plant.
Watching animals while grazing is an interesting experience for many people. The Bogata estate will conjure up a bit of familiarity that thrills families the most. The idyllic location near Bovec, captured between the Julian Alps, is marked by its recognisable view of the top of the Svinjak mountain, which some call the Slovenian Matterhorn.
Respecting Tradition, Dairy Pastures and the Love for Animals
Are you interested in how the cheesemaking tradition has been developing for thousands of years, how the Planika Dairy Plant is preserving the natural processes for the production of dairy products, made using milk produced in the mountainous areas of the Soča Valley? The certified ecological estate of Bogata, where 130 dairy cows are taken care of, is happy to satisfy curious visitors, who can also buy ecological products under the “Mlekarna Planika” trademark in a special room and Salamerie Alpija from Tolmin products.
If the Bogata estate inspires you to further research the cheesemaking and dairy farming heritage of the Soča Valley, visit one of the dairy pastures and the Od planine do Planike museum in Kobarid.
