Tolmin, the town that gave the name to the entire region, is the largest settlement in Zgornje Posočje (Upper Soča Valley) as well as the economic, cultural and administrative centre of the valley. Its streets and houses bask in sunlight on a terrace above the confluence of Soča and Tolminka rivers. In nearest vicinity of the House "Soča", that lies on southern side of the city, there are different possibilities for outside activities . Here you find many natural facts: river beds of river Tolminka, the river "Soča", slovene geological way, historic haritage, "Kozlov rob", forests and meadows, stockbreeding and dairy farming, the fruit-growing and many other. On the emerald river you can make sport, like kayak, canoe or raft. There are also many other sport possibilities, like fitness, a sport field or athletic stadium. To Tolmin you can drive through Bovec or Idrija or through Škofja Loka and Železniki passing Podbrdo and Bače.
