Sustainable mobility promotion day / Tolminka Valley 2020

Date: 2020-07-11

City: Tolmin

The traffic issues facing the alpine valleys and passes do not only affect the Julian Alps but the entire Alpine Space. Noise, dust, particle pollution and exceeded carrying capacity of the environment have many adverse effects on nature.

The Municipality of Tolmin and the Dolina Soče Tourist Board have been successfully building the story of sustainable mobility in Tolmin for a number of years. Local inhabitants, tourism workers, nature conservationists and other stakeholders are united in their efforts to reduce the volume of motorised traffic in Tolmin area. In terms of such policies, certain areas in the Alps have already implemented several cases of good practice. Despite the initial opposition and many challenges, the solutions are normally well-received and, in particular, needed. Therefore, we would like to thank you in advance for leaving your comments or feedback with the informer on the Promotion Day.
You can also send your proposals and comments to the Dolina Soče Tourist Board at: .

The Sustainable Mobility Promotion Days in the Tolminka River Valley and in Bohinj are held on the same day. In 2019, the Sustainable Mobility Promotion Day took place in Ukanc (Bohinj) and on the Mangart Road. The aim of the campaigns is to encourage visitors to recognise the advantages of such traffic regimes and provide managing authorities with valuable experience in establishing sustainable, environment-friendly traffic regimes in the parts of Triglav National Park that are subject to high traffic volumes.
