Bovec or better said Trnovo ob Soči will host this year’s third and fourth Wildwater Canoeing World Cup race. The competition on Soča River is very special because is one of the few competitions still held on a natural course and in intact environment. Organizers expect 150 competitors from all over the world who will fight for medals in two disciplines.
Slovenian paddlers are without a doubt one of the best in the world. We have Nejc Žnidarčič, who is defending European Champion in Whitewater canoeing, was second in World Championships and also the best in overall standing of World Cup races. Sašo Taljat and Luka Božič are defending World Champions both in classic and sprint race and they also won in overall standing of World Cup in 2010. Junior team is also always among the best and youngsters will have an opportunity to start for the first time in senior category.
Considering home course and fans, expectations of Slovenian paddlers are very high. Slovenian team and organizers hope to win at least two medals and several top 10 positions. These hopes are based on previous successes when Slovenians always reached the top positions in Wildwater Canoeing.
